Stephen Bennett

About Stephen Bennett

Whether playing his great-grandfather's harp guitar, his 1930 National Steel or a standard 6-string, Stephen Bennett is a musician to hear. His playing has won awards and critical praise. In live performance and on record, his diverse musical influences and interests are joined with a lifelong love affair with the sound of guitar strings.

My next album:

This great image was created by Sebastian Solignac. He did my More Beatles, Even More Beatles, Still On The Line, and Powhatan Suite album covers. Clearly, Sebastian does great work!

The rough tracks have gone to my friend Kim Person for mixing. At this point, I’m planning to just do a small run of CDs along with the usual distribution to all the digital platforms. Here are the 13 tracks coming down the – wait for it – track:

  1. Venus (composed by Robbie van Leeuwenhoek) – guitar
  2. Train Of Life (SB) – harp guitar, train, and birds
  3. Winter You Done Stayed Too Long (SB) – harp guitar and Telecaster
  4. A Good Man (SB) – guitar
  5. To Be (SB) – harp guitar
  6. For Minnesota (SB) guitar
  7. The Sound Of Music (composed by Rogers & Hammerstein) harp guitar
  8. On The Nature Of Clouds (SB) harp guitar
  9. Dill Pickles Rag (composed by Charles Johnson) guitar
  10. The Entertainer (composed by Scott Joplin) harp guitar
  11. June (composed by Andy McKee) harp guitar
  12. Money, Money, Money (SB) baritone guitar, Telecaster, and vocals
  13. New Year’s Eve (composed by George Potts) harp guitar, high-strung guitar, National steel guitar, and vocals

On a separate note entirely, here’s a very odd little factoid: Long Forgotten Chambers Of The Heart – a harp guitar tune of mine from 21 or 22 years ago – SOMEHOW has gotten traction on TikTok, to the tune of 423 million views. While I’ve always loved the tune, I have no idea whatsoever how it’s managed to resonate with the folks on that platform. Which is fine, I don’t need to know. I hope it keeps on doing so! If you happen to have come across it on TikTok, please let me know what sort of visuals are associated with the music. Thanks!
